Our Liberation is Bound Together

When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid. AUDRE LORDE

Grantee Partners

Groundswell Fund supports over 150 organizations across the United States in 49 states and territories.

Our grantmaking focuses on bolstering and scaling organizations that are building a strong grassroots base to win policy and systems change as well as organizations that are reducing poor birthing outcomes by expanding access to community-based midwifery and doula care.

We acknowledge that systems change takes time. Thus, the vast majority of our grants are for general support, and we commit to funding efficient and effective organizations over many years. We award grants through four funds, and through our capacity-building programs.

2020 Grantee Partners Across the Nation

Through Groundswell Fund We Support Our Grantee Partners With the Following:

The Rapid Response Fund

Provides the philanthropic community with a vehicle for deploying resources quickly and strategically to Reproductive Justice and social justice organizations during unexpected and critical campaign fights and key opportunities.

The Birth Justice Fund

Supports organizing advocacy, and direct service delivery efforts to make high-quality midwifery and doula care and training accessible to women of color and low-income women: a key strategy in addressing alarming rates of poor infant and maternal health outcomes in communities of color.

The Liberation Fund

Supports the strongest grassroots organizing efforts led by women of color and transgender people of color across social justice sectors.

The Black Trans Fund

Supports Black transgender, gender non-conforming (TGNC), and non-binary communities to build power towards collective liberation.

Capacity Building
